Premier Construction Products Group (CPG)
In 2008, Premier CPG’s research and development team set out to develop an easily-employable solution that could drastically reduce the occurrence of shrinkage cracks in concrete. The end result was PREVent-C, a magnesium oxide technology proven to achieve up to a 90% reduction in shrinkage cracks, with negligible effects on all other fresh and hardened concrete properties.
The effectiveness of PREVent-C and its ease of use has led to its inclusion in both private and public projects across the United States and internationally. It can be used in a variety of ready-mix applications, shotcrete or packaged/bagged materials. Past users of PREVent-C include the US Bureau of Reclamation, US Association of Civil Engineers (USACE), Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP), University of Utah, Delaware Department of Transportation (DEDOT), and Jacobs Engineering.
Recent research and developments have further improved upon the available technologies, producing even more environmental and durability-related advantages of using magnesium-based additives and cements. Premier CPGs PREMag line of magnesia cements have been proven to add strength and water resistance while reducing corrosion of structures. In addition, they provide tenacious bonding to substrates, low shrinkage and fire, mold and chemical resistance, and allow incorporation of a wide variety of recycled materials while providing a low CO2 footprint, making them ideal candidates for LEED applications. Further developments in construction market applications based on the unique properties of magnesia technologies are currently in progress.
