Glen Elder Dam and Spillway, Kansas

Successful field trial reduced concrete cracking by minimizing shrinkage of concrete at a U.S Bureau of Reclamation Dam.  The structure suffered from freeze/thaw damage caused by absorptive aggregate. Cracking from the freeze /thaw damage promoted further alkali-silica reaction (ASR).  The 644-foot wide concrete spillway underwent significant renovation of the inlet slabs.
